I haven't been able to come up with anything yet for the current theme, so I played with some textures today. I used three textures on this flower, all of them either from my photos or created in PS. I also added a vignette. Any comments and suggestions would be most appreciated!

Well I love this! I like off-center horizontals, and your texture is yummy! Your lighting and opacity on your flower is wonderful, as the bud really sparkles. I'm wondering if the stem should be a little darker? That would be my only other thought.

Christopher, I agree w/ Barbara regarding the stem. Lovely BG and texture. The vignette is done very well.

I like the overall look. I have no idea what and how you did, but you are about 3,099 years ahead of me with this stuff. :D Well done mate. :)

That is one sweet texture BG, Christopher! I agree about the stem being darker and wonder, too, if you could retrieve a bit more sharpness on the edges of the flower petals? It feels a bit soft to me even though I know that is the look you're going for.

Thanks everyone for commenting. Much appreciated! :)

Personally I kind of like just having the hint of a stem, but since you all asked here's a repost with the stem darkened a little. Please let me know what you think. Jules, I also sharpened the flower petals a little more as you suggested.

I think they both have their strong points. If I had to choose I would go w/ the first one.:)

And I like the second! It's amazing to see how a simple detail or two can change someone's impression of an image, isn't it? They are both lovely, Chris - but I prefer the second one as I like something in the image to have a sharper edge so my eye can grab on.

I like the 2nd one too, Chris - it's like the flower is more connected or something. Regardless, you have a winner here!
