I added the fractalius filter to this along with a lighting effect slight texture, de-sat and masked back in some details.

Well, you are the fractalius guru of late! I love the soft flowing background. A nice effect you created!

Very nice, Denise! Love the BG. I'd prefer to see a little more detail on the bird though.

Very nice D. Like the BG and the pose on the bird. Agree with Christopher that it would be nice to have a bit more detail in the whites.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. Can't bring in too much more detail. This kinda changes the dream-like image I had envisioned, but I do like it better. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

I like both but the repost is softer, more subtle. I wish there had been a little bit more definition between his neck and body (with the neck being extended away a bit more) as I think that would have pushed this WAY over the top but still a fantastic image, Denise!

Well I got back from New York just in time to see this fantastic image (worth coming home) I also like the re-post better and agree you shouldn't bring back anymore detail. Beautiful work.

Denise, the repost is beautiful. The textures and detail in the tail and wing feathers and surrounding bg compliment each other much
    more in the repost.
