    Default Cattle Egrets in Flight

Shot last spring at Matagorda Texas which btw is an excellent location to see and shoot shore birds. We saw large flocks of most species while we were there.

    5D, 300mm 2.8, 1.4TC
    f5.6, 1/5000, ISO 400,
cropped, cloned out a couple of part birds at top, Neat Image noise reduction on BG, S/H and some Smart Sharpening.

    C&C welcome
    Joe

I like "group pictures", so I like this a lot. I do think landscape (rather than portrait) mode is better, but not possible here.

Hi Joe - these are tough - best to just keep shooting and hope for the best - IMHO
The best of this type will have a strong graphical element - no birds that merge into each other - will give the best overall feel and create a stronger image.
Really is hit and miss - so just keep your eye in the viewfinder and keep shooting.
    Looking forward to more :)

I like these type of shots and I think it looks neat to have even more birds in the frame. I think Lance is right, you just press the shutter button and hope to get one that looks right. I like the diagonals in the image and might even move the ones at the top right to get more of a flow. Just a thought.

This one is really nice, never seen so many egrets fly together! I would convert this to a horizontal crop so birds have a little space to fly into.
