Took this at Wakodahatchee in a workshop with Al and Fabs. I know the wing position could have been better.
Added canvas to the right. PP in CS4.

I like the face of the heron, feather detail, and that it's not just a BIF but indicates nest building also.
I would like to see a little more definition between the white chin area and the background.
I'm always impressed with people that can take BIFs in manual.

Hi Jackie Nailed the exposure and its sharp !!! Having good highlight detail is difficult in these type images. Sure like having the nesting material, agree on the wing position but you came up with a fine image !!! Proud of you !!!

Jackie, proud of you! WE know about the wing position, but fro someone who didn't do flight at all, you are doing great! EXP and sharpness are right on. I may "disconnect" the black head plume from the wing.

A very nice photo that has a nice artistic feel to it. I wonder how a slightly darker bird would look. Good for you to get the heron with the nest material.Well done. Dave

Made the bird darker in selective colour and the BG colour is more accurate, think the colour picker went a little magenta when I extended the canvas and erased the bird back in.

Jackie, This looks like a piece of art to me. The high-key BG and the slender stick add to the elegant look.

Yes, I agree. It's a work of art with that abstractly-white background, the beautiful sleek lines and the delicate nesting material.
