    Made this image early this week in Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, India

    Gear : Canon 40D, Canon EF 500 f/4, hand held from Boat
    EXIF : Aperture priority, -1/3, ISO 200, 1/800

    Looks like you were working in some challenging light here Subbu. Here are a few points I note:

    - Comp is a bit too tight
    - Appears too saturated
    - Dark head gets "lost" in dark BG
    - Dark eyes get lost in dark head plumage
    - Comp is a bit too tight (yes, emphasized tight)

    On the positive side: I love the action though, it's priceless and I can almost see what it had for lunch. Also, it is very sharp, evidence of good long lens technique, so not all is lost. :) I hope you know my comments are suggestions of what I think could be things to lookout for next time around.

    Good pointers by Akos. You'd have better conditions to photograph these types of high contrast subjects during early or late sunlight (or overcast anytime during the day). Nice yawning pose!

    The open bill looks pretty cool, sharpness looks good, too. I agree that it is quite tight in the frame and might crop it as a head portrait and try to get more details in the blacks.
