1D Mark IV - New Firmware 1.0.6 Available

This firmware update (Version 1.0.6) incorporates the following enhancement.

1. Firmware Version 1.0.6 enhances the AF tracking performance.**AF performance has been enhances for receding subjects and for subjects that are approaching at a low speed.

Firmware Version 1.0.6 is for cameras with firmware up to version 1.0.4. If the camera's firmware is already version 1.0.6, it is not necessary to update the firmware. (Please note that there is no Firmware Version 1.0.5.)

The update was uneventful and I haven't noticed a difference but I didn't have any problems before anyway.

I would just love to get my hands on a camera! I have one on order with a deposit but no news yet. Some say all are going to the Olympics. I find it so strange that a company the size of Canon can't meet demand well after the first shipping date, and now into the firmware upgrade path.

Please excuse my OT question but with the release of the MKIV will Canon continue to tweak the MKIIIs firmware or leave as is ?

Good question. I wouldn't expect too many firmware revisions for the Mark III anymore unless Canon discovers a major problem.
