    Viera Coot foraging for some more salad. Boy; these little buggers will give you an "exposure" workout!
    Specs:
    Canon 7d
    500mm F4
    F8
    ISO 200

    Hi Don Did well with the exposure capturing lots of shadow detail, having the salad is a big plus !! Would crop from the bottom right to the first water circle, reflection not strong enough .. would take a little from top also !!

    ... btw for the beak you can select the white and duplicate, will give you some detail !!!

    Redo, is this what you had in mind? Not sure i follow you on the suggested technique for the bill; as i'm using LR 2.6. Also i did try the selctive curves, and yes it works like a champ!

    Hey Don, Perfect exposure on the Coot and getting him with breakfast was a nice bonus. All I did with this one was use curves and a layer mask to darken the bill a little and another curves adjustment and mask to pull just a little bit more detail out of the blacks round the neck. I did another round of sharpening which is more a matter of taste and cropped it a little more also a matter of taste. I think I have the same image from the morning but with a slightly different angle.

    Hi Don - nice work on the exposure - did well.
    Like the repost with the little more detail in the blacks. Good HA and eye contact.
