I photographed this Australian King Parrot in a friend's yard in the Blue Mountains. She is rather fortunate having had some 85+ species on her 11 acres nested in a beautiful little valley.

    30D, 300mm f/4L IS USM, ISO800, f/5.6, 1/320th, HH, 430EX -2/3 EC, FF.

Love all the details you captured here. The crop works well and the colors are great. Like to see his mouth partly open. It really adds something.

Good-looking bird, good sharpness, exposure control and eye contact. Sounds like a great place to photograph birds.

Well exposed colours Bro, and this is really sharp. I like the clean eye, and overall, a pleasing image mate.

Love the tight crop and the angle of this, mon ami. You manage to get the colour right (it's not very easy with the red one !).
    Sharpness is really amazing !

Thanks for all the kind comments. I always take advantage of a bird that is not perturbed by human presence. At least it makes up for the ones that frustrate the living daylights out of me. :) Re: reds, I looked at the histogram a number of times, especially the reds to ensure I stay within range. They are so vivid! Gorgeous birds. And this is a male.

Akos, this one rocks for sure. Agree with the comments above; great light, color, sharpness...fantastic portrait. You mean this bird let you walk up to it and you didn't have to use any skills like you normally do? Well done.
