Default Ruby Topaz (Trinidad and Tobago)

First of all....thanks for all the wonderful feedback about the Coquette I posted. Very much appreciated.

My number #2 target for this latest trip was the Ruby Topaz. A spectacular hummingbird if ever I have seen one!

Hope you enjoy this guy too :)

Hi Glenn, This is very nice! The composition is just right for my taste. The background color complement the bird. The pose gives a great view of the wings and with a good head angle. The birds colors look very nice all with good details. The flower coming in at a angle is pleasing. Overall I find this to be stunning. Thanks for sharing.

Glenn, you have no idea how much angst your bird is causing me! ;) :D

When we were on the Antarctic Cruise there was an artist that taught drawing; he was from Trinidad. We learned during the cruise that Jackie is a natural when it comes to drawing birds - "shocking and amazing" (his words; not mine!).

Now she wants to go to Trinidad with this artist to take lessons; how can I say "NO" when there are such beautiful birds for me to attempt to capture.

How many flashes did you use?

    Your presentation is magnificent!
    Cheers, Jay

Great work Glenn, truly impressive bird and technical skill.
I wonder if toning down the highlights in the feet a bit would make much of a difference?

It seems you have become the master of hummingbird photography. You make the setups and backgrounds look the most authentic. It's always obvious that you love your subjects.

All said! :DWhat amazes me is the slow SS for the hummer, is it the multiple flash that does the difference?

That is correct...it is the use of high speed flash that freezes the wings. Without the flash this type of image is impossible. Thanks again for all the kind words...
