    Default Bird on a Stick

But a nice bright bird to cheer up a dreary winter day. This Black-vented Oriole didn't quite cooperate in terms of a slightly off head angle and I erred in too high an ISO than necessary (an opportunistic shot when I was after something else). Any other things that should have been done different?

Looks very good to me. Very good light, exposure and focus. Thanks for posting.

Very nice image Declan, tried a few tweaks and some NR. Hope you don't mind.

Not really Declan !!! I like it a lot Just the noise Jackie was able to clean without affecting detail !!

Nailed the exposure and I'm sure it was close out of the camera, very easy to get halos when you fool around opening shadows in these type, none here !!! Tech wise I usually don't stop down that much !

Don't mind at all Jackie, that is why we are here. The image was noisy and you improved it. I usually limit my tweaks to what I can do in Lightroom and the noise reduction there is limited and my skills even more so. I went as far a I could without affecting the bird but you did better. Thanks for the kind words Al & Joe.

Nice pose and color but I am curios, for my learning, are there areas in the breast that are overexposed causing loss of detail. ?

    thanks Ray:)

    Hi Ray,

Nothing blown in the histogram of the original. Perhaps some degradation in the translation for posting.

    Hi Declan,
I like this very much. The exposure is dead on, I like the head angle and sharp eye. The color rendition and feather details are good. Lady Jackie's noise reduction, puts it over the top...congrats...looking forward to more...
