Haven't gone out much lately, so here's one from a few weeks back. Keeping my fingers crossed for some fresh outings in the very near future:). This male was photographed at a feeder setup on a nice, relatively warm, overcast day.

    Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, evaluative metering, manual exposure (metered off snow, +2 stops), 1/320.s., f/6.3, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, about 85% full-frame.

Very well done. I like the detail in snow near bird fading to detail-es white in fb and bg. TFS

Sweet pose and snow. I don't know the species so can't comment on the colors, but it looks like it could be darker to me. Of course, never seen the bird

Thanks Fabs. This bird looks like it did, and it was the darkest one there. Some do have some "frosty" edges to their plumage at this time (such as this one)...which then disappears in breeding plumage. The females are even paler than this:).

Daniel, superb comp and exposure. You do some amazing work with that lens.
