These guys are hard to get in the open - you can see the shadows thrown on him by the reed all around. I would have liked a lower angle, but there are crocs in those waters...:D Lake Awasa, Ethiopia.

I wouldn't have guessed that this is a goose. Interesting-looking bird and good head angle. I think it needs a bit CCW rotation and wish the setting were a bit more uniform. Thanks for sharing!

Very interesting bird. I'm surprised you didn't risk the crocs for a better angle :D
Great EXP and light and the environment is what it is.
Thanks so much for letting us see a new bird.

Wonderful colors in this image and what a great looking species. Congratulations on the excellent detail and eye contact. Agree with the rotation suggestion. Many thanks for sharing.

What are a few crocs if you can nail a Pigmy? THis is a VERY nice image and we have to travel to the Okavango to see them!
Axel I am puzzled by your comment to slight rotate the goose - the swimming speed creates a "wave" in front of its chest, is this that you are referring to?

You're right Callie, these guys swim FAST. Still searching for the perfect Pigmy shot - next time I'll brave the crocs;)
