    Default Wind blown Cardinal

    Canon EOS REBEL T1i
    Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS @ 400mm
    Manual mode
    1/400"
    F8
    ISO: 800
    CS3
Canon 430EX w/DIY softbox attached: On, Fired

Using a flash-mounted softbox isn't something I'd normally use for shooting birds but part of my feeder setup is really close to my house so I thought I'd give it a try.

Hi Ken For judging the effect of the flash fire multiples with the motor drive, out of three the last will have no flash effect.

Image looks very pleasing, I like the pose and sharpness, reds look good could back the saturation down a tad but is basically personal choice. .. good looking bg !!!

Nice bird and light. Love the smooth BG. I would only suggest a bill clean up.

Nice portrait...I agree with Al you might be able to recover some detail in the crest by reducing the red saturation.

Thanks for the comments and tip. Believe it or not, I'd already desaturated the reds -25!

Very nice Ken. Only thing I might suggest is adding a bit more room on the left.
