Out of the two species we have, this is by far, my favourite. In the winter they have their little ear tuffs and probably at their best. The location is set in a true 'Scots pine' forest in the depths of the Cairngorms, so the light, at best, is fairly poor.

Good soft lighting, BG and fine detail in the fur Steve with that classic squirrel pose.;)

Ahh! It is a photograph that automatically draws forth a satisfied AH! The perch especially is very nice - not that I take away from the rodent, it is just that we never have this nice a perch in SA!:D

Steve, this is excellent. The wonderful soft side lighting makes it unusual. Only suggestion would be to tone down the plant growing on the stump. As it is still outstanding.

Ok Steve why was this not in the calendar? I like the tail hanging down rather than i's usual position.

Great image of one of the UK's rarest and finest little creatures.
