    Default White-tailed Ptarmigan

    Captured this ptarmigan on Guanella Pass this fall. I was trying to show how these birds blend into their enviroment.

    Canon 1D Mark2
    Canon 300mm f/4 IS lens
    Metering at zero

    Hi Dan, big welcome to BPN!

    Nice exposure, wish you had a bit of fill flash to bring out the detail in the dark, since you have side light.
    The bird is a bit centered and wish you had been lower or higher to avoid the bird intersected by the change in bg.

    Sharp, and I do not mind the centered compostion in a large in the frame vertical. I would lighten it a bit. As for getting lower, it is a two-edged sword. Get lower, and lose more of the feet. I think that you have made a good compromise.

    This is just fantastic. My only nit would be the 2 tone Bg running right through the bird.


    Cant wait to see more :)
