This badger and her family (there were 4 kits) was photographed in the Lamar Valley of YNP. We waited for over 2 hours for her to bring her family out of the den, Very hard to try and get everyone to pose just right. You have to take what you can.

Canon MarkIII with Canon 500mm f/4 IS lens with 1.4 converter @ f/9, 1/1600 and ISO 800. Image is almost full frame (we were within 100' of the den, as close as we could without violating the distance rules set by the park), with some corrections in levels, S/H and sharpening in PS.

Sums up this image very well Louis, which is why we keep going back ;)
Pleasing image nonetheless, might try a touch of Gaussian/NR on the BG.

I like how you got a clear view of the entire family. Looks like the wait was worth it.

Louis your images are really improving and I like this one. :)

Agree bout NR and would loose a bit of the bottom, less foreground.

Hi Louis Your patience paid off !!! Badger looks relaxed ! Agree on cropping some form the bottom, would also sharpen only the animals leaving the bg alone !! The Gaussian blur should take care of it, excellent suggestion !!
