Hi Dennis, I like the behavior captured and the the expression on the face of the back Heron. I do not like the crop wish the bottom have of the birds where in the frame and the image as posted is soft at 1250 and f11 it probaly only needs another round of sharpening.

What I like is the behaviour captured, the greenery in the bg. I find the comp awkward, but if you crop to just above the legs, I think it can work. Yes, soft, try more sharpening. Really a fun image. Do you have more from this series?

Ok, I looked at the comments, particularly about it being soft, and did some more post-processing. I sharpened it just a bit, but at ISO 1600 you can imagine the noise begins to become more visible quickly. I decided that the real problem was that I didn't pump up the contrast sufficiently from the raw capture. Also, there was no crop in the fist image, that was the way it was taken (didn't have much choice since this was taken with a fixed focal length lens).

I increased contrast and also cropped the birds's legs from the bottom. See what you think.

    Thanks!
    Dennis

Grace: Yes I have about 8 or so images from this particular behavior series, and about 128 from that morning of various behaviors. Thanks! Dennis
