The fast shutter speed was used because it was very windy. Overall I'm pleased with the way this turned out but I'm not sure about the bit of green in the ULC. Should it stay or go?
If it were mine, I'd crop or clone it out but I find those little things distractions. Besides, all the power of this image is in the front half where those jaws of steel are chomping down on the stem! I do like it as presented although the image is rather dark on both sides. He is very well exposed, though, and nice details. A lower angle might have given you more face and less stem but it's certainly not a deal breaker.
I can feel that chomp! This image conveys the power of taking that bite! Dynamic. I like the angle of the caterpillar, the bit of stem at the bottom, and the shallow dof. I agree with Jules about cloning or cropping the ulc green. I love seeing the details of the head--the little hairs. Excellent.
