    Default Catching stars...

    Hi,

yesterday was a beautiful sunset at Ding Darling Wildlife Drive. I created this almost silhouette like image where the small aperture created the starlights in front of the woodstork.

Slight crop from the original image taken with the 1D MK II with 500mm@f 25 and 1/500s.

    Thanks for looking,

    Peter

Very creative! I like the effect. I wonder what it would look like if the upper 1/4 of the water were the same as the rest.

    Peter,

Nice image, I like the idea and the composition. In this case the subject would have stood out more and the image more sucessful if you could have placed the WS into the big highlights and out of the background, maybe by changing position or waiting for a better opportunity.

    Thanks for sharing.

I like creative stuff, Peter, kudos for trying things a little different. I would try to get the silhouette darker, for a stronger effect.

    Hi,

Thanks for the comments so far. The original image was a centered woodstork surrounded by water - I am still working on my composition in general. I was almost down to the ground with my tripod and getting a different angle would have let me break the rules and violate the "No entry beyond this sign" rule. I have a different picture where the woodstork opens the bill and one of the highlights is just at the end. Looks nice but it is a little out of focus. Unfortunately this opportunities in Germany are so rare that I have to return for training a couple of times but it is only a 10 hours flight and a two and a half hour drive from Miami.

    Take care,

    Peter - gone for dinner
