This is in the style of old hand-painted photographs... I converted this white Hibiscus rosa-sinensis to b&w with a tint. Changed opacity and then painted over the flower selectively. Added noise and frame for the final effect. Hope you like it...

Indranil, I gotta tell you I love the lighting on the flower and the way you captured it. The aging looks great. I think the white spots in the BG are a little distracting, esp. the ones that touch the flower. The side of the flower that is against the darker area of the BG really pops and can be appreciated to it's fullest. The tones in the whites are very nice. BUT since the theme is "old photo" I think you nailed the look and it is totally believable -esp. with the white spots in the BG. Well done. I'd love to see you do a a texture overlay on this in the future, I think this image has alot of versatility.:)
Hi Denise, thanks a lot. Really appreciate your feedback. You got it right; the white patches were on purpose in line with old style photos with high contrast. I will post few other variations in future.
Nice work Indranil! Denise has discussed the techs very well. Only thing I might be tempted to do is to lower the saturation of the painted colors ever so slightly to more closely match the faded look of the rest of the image. Very well done!!

Indranil, I agree with Kerry about reducing the saturation just a bit. It's a beautiful image with a lot of

Nice composition and processing, Indranil. I like the BG except for the white patches, though I understand your reasoning for leaving them. I might add a little more room on the bottom, but no biggie. Well done!
I think the flower looks great but I, personally, am not a fan of added noise even though it does add to the themed effect. And again, personally, I find the white spots quite distracting even though they were left on purpose. I guess this is just a case where my vision is different from yours. Not necessarily better or worse, just different.

Here is a repost... I have lowered the saturation of the painted colors, darkened the white patches, extended the canvas and also did not apply noise...
Indranil, I think the added canvas looks good-but it does look a bit stretched. You did a great job making this image look old. The more I look at it the more it reminds me of an old print.
