Ok, here's another eagle shot. The weather yesterday was pretty crappy but the ice in the tree and this talkative fellow were too good to pass up. This shot is out of the camera (raw conversion in Aperture).

Opinions on photograph and the conditions most welcome - as well as options and advice on how you would process this image - or does it hit the "circular" file?!

Conditions: Heavy overcast and slight fog

    Hi Mark,
Nice capture...a few points to consider...I would suggest moving your subject to the left side of the frame in order to off center him. Would crop 1/4 from the top and add more canvas on the bottom to give him more leg room. In addition the image looks flat, lacking contrast, would set your black and white points to bring up the contrast and a little more saturation. and would selective sharpen the bird...keep them coming...:)

i can hear him now! agree with gus about moving the bird off center. would wish for some more canvas on the bottom. best to frame the bird in a corner of the frame. as is, would bump the contrast a little also.

i bet it was a treat seeing this one!!

    Thanks guys!

Here's my edited effort. I did the following:
    - Cropped in and to the left. (still need to learn how to add canvas, especially with a busy background!!)
    - White balanced
    - Bumped exposure about 1/3 (no blinkies)
    - Moved my black point up until blinkies and then backed off)
    - Ran Nik Define noise reduction
    - Bumped up definition 45
    - Added a touch of vibrancy
    - Levels adjustment
    - A little selective color boosting (red/orange)
    - Nik Pro Sharpener

    All advice welcomed!

I like the improvements, but for me, the work involved in cleaning up the distracting branches would make this one a non-keeper. Great subject though.
