    Default Little Woodpecker, Big Tree

It doesn't really show here, but I like the way the tree looked really huge in the original which can be viewed here @ 1024 pixels http://www.pbase.com/jimpoor/image/93212683

As presented, this is a fairly hefty crop (maybe 20% of frame left?)

Did some NR on the BG and Smart Sharpen on the bird. Shadow Highlight as the last step.

Nice pose and head angle !
With this crop, might prefer a bit of CCW rotation to make the tree look straighter.

As long as you don't have to print it, it's OK for web. good job, considering the amount of cropping!

Dear Farmer Jim (he of the big crop; stolen from Mr. Shadle...)

I actually like the linked iamge but would need that one cropped a bunch from behind the bird. The image above has not held up to well with the huge crop (as would be expected).

    later and love, artie

I sense a change in my nickname coming on :D

I actually like the linked image much better too, but didn't think the small bird would look good at 800 pixels with the big tree.

    Thanks,
    Jim

Another thumbs up for the bigger version, although composition could be improved. Good one!

Thanks Isak, how would you improve the bigger one? Cropping from the left as recommended by Artie?
