    Hi everyone,

I went to Jasper last weekend. Close to where he lives large groups of these beautiful geese hang around all winter. Although ususally there are lot of them around they don't come close. I know Jasper has waited and waited for an oppertunity to get close to these birds. Last weekend everything came together and we spend a wonderful afternoon with them. This is one of my favourites of that day.

    C&C are welcome,

    Great underside view !
    Very nicely done !

I'm seeing a bit of a halo around the head and neck.

Great wing position and pretty fair head angle. I also see the halo, around the wings too, maybe from S/H.

    Love those little feet :)

Outstanding flight image, Krijn! The light on the underside of this bird provides for great detail! The wing position is dynamic and beautiful. Very nice work.

I love it and am halo-blind. The only thing that bugs me is the screwy stuff along the leading edge of the far wing. Not sure if it is a broken feather or what....

Way sharp and perfectly lit with sweet light and a perfect head angle and pose....

Thanks everyone for the nice comments!

Artie, I noticed this too, but this specimen seems to have these screwy feathers on both wings. Could this be an anatomical thing with this goose species?

    Cheers,

    Krijn

Hey Krijn, Not sure. But on a closer look I do see something similar on the far wing. Best to check some other photos of this species in similar poses if possible. I know that when there are problems with certain feathers or feather tracts that are related to diet, that the imperfections show up on each side of the bird..
