    Default MK4 - DPP or LR/ACR ?

I have been looking at my MK4 images at ISO800 and ISO1600 and wondering if LR/ACR is doing the best conversion or if I should be using DPP right now.

    Thoughts ?

I only used DPP a couple of times, images appeared less noisy and less detailed if memory serves right, could have been my settings but I also really don't like the UI of DPP. I use CS4/ACR now.

I use DPP for my photos, I like its output better than any other program, it is very easy to use and runs fast. check out the tutorials on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIqd1OTcWLQ and give it a try to see if you like it.

B&H website also has a very good tutorial by Canon rep on DPP http://www.video.bhphotovideo.com/ type DPP in the search box and you will find 3 videos.

Any ways, best is to try for yourself.

Arash I loaded it and will play around with it.. The UI is still awful not real improvement over when I used it for the 10D !!

I need to shoot more with the MK4 before I make a a judgement.

I am with Arash on this one Lou.

I used C1 (4 pro & 4,5 pro) for years before going back to DPP. Certainly it's not that great in terms of both function or in architecture, but the results I would say, 'speak for themselves'', once you get used to it. The more options you have in a programme, the more you will fiddle/tinker with, getting possibly away from the actual image itself when shot :)

Good luck & play, have fun...

Arash is right on this one for sure. I've always used DPP and I feel it handles RAW files for conversion better than outside programs including the brand new ACR I just got with CS4. It is also extremely fast and incorporates an editing browser right in the program so you don't have to do any jumping around unless you want to do some cloning, etc. in Photoshop. My only gripe, as always, is that it doesn't have a leveling tool and Canon continues to ignore my pleas.

I use Photoshop CS 4 for my mark 1V processing .The new Camera raw 5.6 works fine and very little work has to be done with PS

I have just used LR for RAW conversion of my Mark 4 and was amazed at the detail, lack of noise and color. I just can't seem to get a handle on DPP. It always seemed kind of clunky to me.
