    This white pelican was in the snow beside the Yellowstone River in yellowstone NP. I had snowed hard enough to shut down the majority of the roads and all the enterences but the West one. Taken with D300

    poor guy, I can feel the ice. :) A little better HA and slightly softer light would have been in your favor. Still a nice image.

    Agree with Akos on HA and light. Toning down the whites could help some. Not a bad image overall but HA would improve greatly. TFS

    Really captures the cold feeling with the snow on the ground and looks very unusual to see a pelican in that environment. You've done well with the small aperture to give a DOF to cover the whole bird with the back toward you pose. Head angle is not too bad considering the pose but the light angle is not ideal as it is putting the face in shade- fill light reflecting from the snow is helping though. It would nice to try and recover some more detail in the whites as I think there are some nice textures on the back.

    Definite improvement in the white details. Works well against the darker BG. May try and open up the face a little more.
