Default Like Water Off A ...

Canada Geese are just big ducks but the water isn't quite off the back. I kind of like how the water envelopes the goose, like shrink wrap or a layer of polyurethane. Still the image lacks something, I'm just not sure what.

i'm not sure exactly what it is missing. i would only clean up the specular highlights on the bill and sharpen the eye again. looking at it more, i think a little more canvas above would strengthen the compo. love the pose and all the water does make it different and interesting.

Hi Declan - I am not sure either. I agree with harold about the sharpening and maybe lightening the eye just a tad. Just thinking about what could be missing: there was obviously alot of action as the bird dunked itself and then rose out of the water, but in the image the water is actually quite static as it surrounds the bird. So maybe the image in your mind isn't captured here? Just a thought.
It is a neat image, and quite unusual.

    Hi Declan,
I like the details and action captured...I agree with the advise given, I would give it more room to the right side in addition to the top and set a white and black point to give it a tad more contrast so it can pop...looking forward to your next one...

I guess I won't try to over think this one. Just found it odd that I originally found it an interesting shot but the more I worked with it the less I liked it. Here's the rework based on suggestions. Perhaps a bit better but still lacking something. Perhaps Gail is onto something with the relative calm of the water given the goose's activity.

    Thanks for the insights.
