Shot several frames of this Lilac-breasted Roller in a light rain in Kruger NP. Lens supported on bean bag on ice box - one has to keep the the lens out of the rain:D Trying out the workflow showed to me by Morkel. Unfortunately, reducing the noise on the BG, also "selected" the rain streaks. D200, 200-400 F4, ISO 400; F9; 1/160; AP; -0,7; 12h01 Plumage was bright in the "nice" light, but maybe my preference for darker images inadvertently let me work a darker exposure. Cropped out a lot of OOF branches to the top, right of the roller.
This works well Callie as I like the colors and detail captured I do see marks from cloning that probably can be smoothed out the main thing is the body of the bird is in the clear.
Sharpness and look-back pose look very good. Some of the light blue plumage looks oversaturated and I wish the branches in the BG were not there. Could you have moved to your left?
Hi Callie, I like the ruffled plumage, and he doesnt look too happy in the rain. I would clone out the branch on the right above the tail. Your pp work looks like its coming on fine.
You did really well Callie. Love the rain drops and the colors. The BG branches are a little troublesome, but I would take all I can too. :) Well done.
Beautiful little guy (?) in an unusual pose. I may have this wrong, but the image appears to
have a magenta cast. No color reference in the image that I can rely on, so I'm just
guessing with this adjustment.
