This is a Steppe Eagle, These huge raptors visit India during winter, I went all the way to Greater Rann of Kutch to have my date with them. It was a great feeling to spend time around these beauties.

    Kiran:
Your eagle is sharp, well exposed, nice pose. Love the feather detail.

The only minor point be to consider would be to try a version with the two dark bars in the background on the right, lightened slightly.

    Very nice.:)

    Randy

PS; how far did you have to drive to get to him?

Thanks Randy, sure will do that and post too..

I did not drive but took a flight Randy :D ... Greater Rann of kutch is the passage for most of the migrants to India. Its a heaven for birders. Its about 2000km from where I live.

Well worth the trip. I like the sharpness, look-back pose, complementing BG and eye contact. A minor point is that it would have been nice if the foot were more evenly lit.

Kiranbhai, good choice of aperture here, and what a lovely pose. I like the sharp feather detail, and the complimentary BG. I hope you captured plenty keepers, to make the price of your plane ticket worthwhile. ;)

Kiran...loved the pose. Exposure, sharpness and comp are always very good in your photos. Good call on the aperture. Seems like light was plenty. One huuge advantage of the Raan I guess.

Fantastic shot of a fantastic species. Great light, colors and perfect sharpness.
Makes me sad that my planned trip to India for this month didn't work out!

Exceptional as always Kiranbhai! :) Love the sharpness and earthy tones throughout. I am OK with dark bands. :D
