    Captured this image during a boat trip on the Okavango river late last year - this bird allowed for a really close approach :)

    NIKON D3, 1/800, f/8, Manual, ev -1/3, Auto-ISO: 320, 500mm VR +1.4x

    Albert, this is insane! I love the details I see before me. My only suggestion is to remove the catchlight from the flash! :)

    Thanks for the comments folks - Akos, I think the secondary catchlight came from the water but a valid suggestion - I will remove it and see what it looks like ;)

    The sharpness is very striking. Some amazing feather details captured. Liked the tight crop a lot. I dont know about the bird....but it seems a tad oversaturated. But I might be wrong. Birds can be quite colorful.

    Thanks for the comments folks - these guys are indeed pretty colourful and I think the early morning light further enhanced the colour. Some of them just seem to totally ignore the approaching boat and just stay sitting there right in front of you! :)

    Albert this is a gorgeous portrait everything looks perfect as a portrait should be man those colors are stunning.:)
