Terry I like the eye contact and the exposure of the whites on this bird.

I might wish for a bit more space for the bird to fly into. I would also consider cropping some from the top to just below the OOF diagonal branch in the upper left corner.

    Still a very nice image.

Thanks very much, Stephen for your suggestions and critique. I agree with you on the OOF branch - I'll fix that. On the composition part, I always struggle with just how much room to leave for the bird to fly into.

I agree with the space on right idea. I too struggle with this!

Good exposure and the bird looks great against the BG. I agree with cropping from above - I would try a crop to put the head on the upper 1/3 and add canvas to the right to put it on the right 1/3 (pano comp with the head on the intersection of upper and right thirds) as a starting point.

I like the exposure and pose. Whites look good. I find the upper left whites in the BG to be a little distracting. Agree with more room right

Terry, good exposure on the whites, and I like the flight angle. The swan stands out nicely against the darker BG. Your repost works well. Well done.

re-post works much better, great pose and light, can't add much to what has already been said.

Very well done Terry. Great exposure and sharpness looks good. Repost is even better. I might tone down the catchlight slightly. Very well done. TFS
