One more in this motif, with its very busy background, before I move on. It is storming here in Southern California, so this week's bird photography opportunities do not look promising. This image from two weeks ago was cropped just a sliver on the bottom and on its left side (to balance the wingspread display -- I had no more image to work with on the right). Then in PS Elements I applied S/H and USM, a bit of brightening on the eyes, as well as cloned out one branch that intersected the heron's body near its leg. All C&C really appreciated.
hi wendell - love that wingspread - nice detail there as well.
Find it a little one dimensional and thus not enough separation from the BG.
could just be my personal tastes - lets see what others think.
Hi Wendell,
I like the capture with the raised, stretched wing spread. You have good details...I agree with Mr. Peters on the separation factor...might also add that perhaps you can set your whit and black points in order to bring out the vibrant colors and a little more contrast on your subject...it looks a little washed out...re-work and repost, would like to see it...:)
I think with the water addressed that this'll be a much better rendition.
The pose is killer and lots of detail showing.
I know that you worked on the eye, but it's still kind of lost for me and the weakest part of this image, particularly given how the other details pop. Unfortunately, I have no suggestion for a cure.
"For the original post try adding some neutral and black in selective color, will make the change !!!"
And since I've seen you offer this advice regarding more than one image in the past, perhaps you will explain the steps for me -- maybe the explanation would be useful to others, as well.
