    Default Out from the Darkness

Really enjoying the lower light during midday this winter. This image was taken at 3:30 in the afternoon while the sun was beginning to set. Taken with the Canon Mk III, 500 f4 lens at 1/1600, f8, ISO 400, handheld.

    Thanks for looking :)

Great focus on the face, Bill. I like the wing pose wrapping the face and the snow fall from the perch is great. I would be tempted to darken down the light areas in the BG - especially the area above the bird's left wing.

Bill I love the light and the wing position as they frame the bird's face. The flakes of snow falling off the perch give a sense of movement too.

I might be tempted to clone out the two lighter OOF dots on the right side of the frame.

Great pose and I dig the dark background. I agree with the cloning of a few of the light spots near the owl. In a perfect world I would like the wings to be sharp. Great image Bill!

The flight pose is great, with the wings framing the face. Very nice capture.
I'd tone down the bright patches in BG too.

Just a super flight image IMO Bill! Great sharpness where it counts, dramatic lighting, and a nice exposure. I especially like the snow falling from the perch. I would darken the lighter areas in the BG.

Super timing on this one Bill. I love the spotlight effect look on the face and the wing shape with take off is great.
