    Default Pitcher Plant

I was at Selby Gardens in Sarasota, Florida this weekend and was amazed at how well the garden looked since they had below freezing temperatures for several nights in a row. They used heaters and covered many of their plants. This is a macro of a Nepenthes or pitcher plant photographed with my Canon 5D MK II. ISO 400, f/2.8, 1/8 sec, EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM, Spot Metering, Auto Exposure, Auto WB, No Flash. Comments Welcome....

I like the curved introduction of the petal in frame. You have bold colors with sharp details and good texture...I like it Mr. Waas...

Jeff, I focused on the highlighted ridge of the plant. I tried multiple f-stops, but I liked the maximum aperture to blur the background.

Al, the plant was surrounded by a lot of light and when I used evaluative metering, the pitcher was coming out dark to I decided to meter off the pitcher itself. What would you have done?

Richard, so you metered on the plant itself. I was just curious, there are so many light and dark points in the image I was wondering if you selected a point out of frame. Thank you for the answer as alwats nice work.
