    Shot on a fairly overcast day last week at Shoreline park (CA).

    I liked the "fluffiness" of the feathers, the pose and color contrast from the grey bg. This said, is the grey bg overwhelming? Is the clipped tail a problem?

    I like the angle and the detail around the head. I would have preferred to see the water droplets on the bird's back a bit sharper. The tail doesn't bother me too much.

    Hi Jean - I think the grey BG works OK here contrasting well with the dark plumage. Good head angle and I love that green eye. Composition is a bit tight though.
