    Default My First Barred Owl

The lighting was a little overcast for the day , but came across this owl sitting by the edge of the road.

You're so lucky! I still haven't snagged an owl.

I like the pose, composition, and the blurred suggestion of trees on the left. I know the perch blocks the tail, but it doesn't bother me. I think it's a beautiful shot. The face could be a smidgen brighter, but that could just be my monitor.

As others have said, very nice exposure, compostion and depth of field. The OOF branch is not OOF enough to be distracting. Impressive for iso800. You must have naled the exposure in-camera itself. Congrats.

Thanks for the comments, I was really surprised when I seen him sitting in a tree by the road by a field. I was more surprised when I got my camera and tripod out and he did fly. I quickly snapped off a few pictures then thanked the owl then put the camera back into the car and left him sitting on his branch.
