Default Ivory Gull at ISO 3200

I made this image about 20 minutes before sunrise right after finding this bird on the beach. I really liked the light but it was still quite dark. The original was slightly underexposed. The shutter speed was very low to begin with and I was handholding. I only ran NR on the background. There is a little noise in the plumage but I thought it would give a good impression of the high ISO capabilities of the Mark IV.

Incredible on all fronts Axel...high iso performance is great...but so is your hand-holding, exposure, composition, low angle. The plane and the pilot both seem to be excellent here.

Axel, pretty impressive for that ISO. With this being a rare sighting for you, Im sure you got off a whole lot of different shots. Great HA, and love the warm colours.

Axel - Wonderful soft light, and ultra-low angle. Great HH technique - I assume this meant elbows on the beach. Where did you find this lovely creature? I've yet to see one.

Thanks, Bill! This bird was on Cape Cod on the weekend. I haven't seen any reports in the last two days if the bird is still there.

I left Friday night to be there on Saturday by sunrise, I really didn't want to miss the bird. I might go back one more time if the gull stays.

Beautiful light, Axel, great ISO. I tried Al's and was quite happy with it.

Great image, don't mind the bit of noise on the plumage, impressive for that ISO value.
I think I see thin red eye-ring. I think it is real and you might be the first one ever to capture that.

Super image Axel. Love the low angle, colours and exposure! Good to see the MK4 performing well so far.

Lovely image. From the shutter speed and ISO combination one can imagine the level of light. Like the colours.

    Cheers,
