    Default Black vulture

    40D. 400 f5.6 at f/6.3. iso 320. 1/2000.

Head is not as sharp I'd have liked. The focus point was probably on the near wing. Should have gone with a smaller aperture.

    All opinions welcome.

Kaustubh - Great timing and composition. Detail does look a bit finer on the wing. I'm seeing a sharpening halo around the bird, so would think about pulling back on sharpening or cleaning up the edges. I wish the HA was a few degrees more towards you.

    Still an outstanding action capture.

I like the wing position and eye contact. The near wing looks a bit sharper than the head.

KD, excellent exposure on the blacks, and just love the detail on the near wing.

Thx everyone. I will look into the sharpening halo. I had made sure I did not select the edges during sharpening. But my default of 4 for sharpness in DPP is probably a little on the higher side for such dark-against-clear-sky images.
