This was also an image taken at Viera last week. The lighting was lovely and I just happened to pass by and saw this little one perched out in the grasses. So often I have seen them perched on a wire or some place that was not really condusive to a nice composition.

Judy - Beautiful golden lighting. HA, Comp, and detail look excellent to me too.

Light, sharpness, composition and eye contact look very good. I would try to get more details in the blacks and tone down the highlights.

Very handsome bird and lovely light. I agree that most pictures of these birds are them being perched on wires, but this more natural perch works great here. I also wish to see more details on blacks.

Great subject, light, cattail perch, and sharpness. I also agrre about the whites being toned down a little, these contrasty birds can be a tough exposure. Lovely composition, Judy!

    Judy,

I like it just as posted: eye contact - perch - background - detail in whites. I have a difficult time getting good eye contact with these because of the dark mask. Well done - congrats.

Love the pose and composition with the ball of fluff at the bottom that balances the photo. Only niggle is it appears a little blown around the section below the eye on my monitor.
