    A common and often overlooked bird also by yours truly :D While out today I got one of these IMO beautiful birds on ice in the last light of the day.

    Hope you like it,

    Canon EOS 50D 1/640 f7.1
    ISO 400
    Canon 300mm F2.8 L USM + 2x Converter
    Handheld

    Got rid of some distracting stuff on the ice.

    I like the setting, wide crop, walking and look-back pose and might lighten the dark parts of the plumage a bit more.

    Love the low angle and walking action. Well composed and you are right they are often over looked. Many thanks for sharing Krijn.
