Awesome image with a great low angle and love the action and superb detail. IMO the only thing I would change would be to crop out the one twig as I find my eye is drawn to it and this is a fantastic image of a very elusive bird. Fine work Lesley.

    Hi Lesley,

Great shot! Love the action, nice exposure and detail capture. I agree with getting rid of the twig if it suits your personal ethics and would probably back of on the sharpening a bit, as on my monitor it looks a bit oversharpened. Thanks for showing, wish it was mine BTW!

Pretty cool setting, I also like the soft light and behavior. Another vote for less sharpening and I would give it a tad more room right and top.

Lovely behaviour and environment, Lesley. Agree on option of removing reed. More room top and sides would be nice - may be good to see the whole gap in the ice.

Wow! How cool is this? No pun intended. Gorgeous bird --I'm checking on those other shots right now!

Lots of detail in that plumage and a treat to see him ice fishing. I don't mind the reed, it's part of the environment and not intrusive.
