Another out my archives from the Sabi Private game reserve, taken in 2008. We waited for this big guy, as he had to come to water after his kill. True to nature, he walked alongside us, and we followed him down to the dam. The light is a combination of spot light from the vehicle, and external flash from the camera.

    F/4.0
    ISO 400

    Manual mode
    Ext flash used.

Nice one Stuart, the SSGR is sure hard to beat for concentration of habituated Leopards, heck I was that keen on the area, I thought it a good idea for my wife and I to get married there at the same time.:D
Did you happen to get one of him front on? Good use of spot & flash light. Very nice male as well.

That is one huge, well fed leopard ! That's Mike Tyson's neck ! I would have tried a lower angle, if at all possible.

    Hi Stuart

I hope you do not mind me being honest, but this image does not work for me.
Night time photography using flash and spotlight are very difficult tools to create a moody/interesting image. You have handle all the techs correctly but the side angle looking down detracts from the image for me.
I have also photograph this leopard so I know that it can very difficult to get in to the right position etc. and one has to take what you can get.

sorry if you think i am being to frank ..but I would rather give / receive constructive critique than platitudes.

Hi Stu, any leopard, any time, is a bonus. Shooting from the Landie is not easy, and the POV is not always nice. If you run Blending mode Modify and fade a bit, you get a better exposure, methinks, but then I like darker rather than lighter images.

Hi Callie, thanks for your feedback. Your repost does look better, although I would probably go with an inbetween of yours and mine.
