    This image was captured in our garden last summer. Tentative ID is the European skipper.

    Canon 70-200mm f/4 L at 200mm + 1.4X TC and EOS 30D; ISO 250; AV/Evaluative metering +2/3; 1/500s at f8; Gitzo 1325 tripod.

    Love the diagonal placement of this skipper Keith and the beautiful OOF pink & green of the BG, and great detail. Nice work!!

    A simply lovely image of this delightful little chap - and those surroundings colours are wonderful
    I don’t think this is a European skipper however, Fiery Skipper - Hylephila phyleus - to my eyes. But I am certainly no expert upon American species

    I think Matthew is correct--it is a fiery skipper rather than a European skipper. That's what I get for trying to rely on memory rather than just looking it up. Thanks for the correction Matthew.
