I'm quite happy with the bird. Not sure about the bg. Your thoughts will help I'm sure.
Processed in LR2 ---> CS4. In LR2 I ran an adjustment brush (decreasing sharpness and clarity to 0) over the dried flower heads and stems and branches. In PS I cloned out plant parts that either touched or came too close to the bird.
    Thanks for looking
    Cheers

I am alright with the BG, the bird is framed so well is not distracting IMO. I would remove RHS twig.

Nice eye and sharp detail, colors in body look spot-on to me - well done Gail.

Did you mention the shutter speed?

Jeff - thanks for the comments and the observation about missing the ss. I agree that the branch on the rhs is a candidate for the dreaded clone stamp. I'm still mulling and hoping for some more thoughts.
    Thanks very much, most appreciated

Hi Gail- This is lovely I like it a lot - BG doesn't bother me so much, I could live with the branch on the RHS.
    Nice work :)

Lovely image, Gail. Nice color palette with bg colors enhancing the bird, IMO. I do find my eye drawn to that LHS twig and would probably remove it, if it were mine. If you would rather not, I don't feel it ruins the image.

I like your composition and you have great HA and eye contact also. I would rather not see the twig on the right side. IMO.

Love the pose, the sharpness and excellent details around the eye. The background doesn't bother me at all, in fact I like how it shows the environment without taking attention away from the bird. Just wish that the perch didn't poke the bird belly, kind of funny.
