Not many bugs around to shoot so to sastify my close-up needs, I'll shoot some non-living subjects. Clear liquids placed on an upside down CD or DVD and placed in the sun are fun to mess around with. Slight angle changes can make a huge difference in the colors and patterns. This one is a of a DVD with a ring of light corn syrup with some red colored water in the middle.

Hi Ken, indeed a cool and groovy image, very creative thinking! Thanks for the description, because I didn't have a clue what I was looking at. I would have liked a little more room to the left of the drop of liquid. Reminds me of Saturdaynight Fever!

Very cool - I'm not too artsy so this kind of creativity blows me away. Love all the colors you have working here...very neat affect.

The problem I have is that the disks aren't big enough which is why I ran out of room on the left side. Maybe an old laser disk would work better. I was thinking it reminded me more of a 70's rock album cover. :)

I don't see any reason to post more here so here are links to a few others, just so you can see the possibilities.

Very cool stuff, Ken. I love the wild colors and the long lines on the right. It definitely has that "'70's" feel to it!

Cool! Looks like a neon sign to me. I agree about more room, but your explanation shows this is the best it could be.
