Hi - look like gorgeous birds - a little too small in the frame to make out any details - all ready using lots of focal length so only option would be to get closer if possible.

Program mode is probably not your best option - would try working in anything but program - something that gives you some control over the camera.

Looks like the HA might be OK - little hard to tel.
    Keep em coming :)

Interesting crop choice, I might also try out the version which show more of the environment on the top and take off a little at the bottom. The image gave me the paddle along the river happily feeling. Agree with Lance comments.

Thanks for the comments. These bird were skittish, I approached from behind trees tries to get up to the river bank. the birds dove and with the swiftness of the current the came up under a culvert.

The bank behind the bird was very messy with intermittent snow patches I thought that cropping down would give a better picture

Later I post the full picture for additional comments

    Hi Myer

Great point by Lance on the mode setting, you want anything but that !! Tech wise would also suggest to shoot wide open since you did not have all that much shutter speed .. worry about sharpness first !!

As presented the histogram should be underexposed? Take a look and there is probably no info in the last box to the right, will bring in lots of nose when opening in PS !!
