I have reposted an image I submitted yesterday. I took the advice of Alfred Frons and others on how to sharpen an image for posting to the web. Original image was cropped where as this time I presented the whole image.

    Canon 40D, 500mm f/4 IS lens, f/5.6, 1/640, ISO 400.

Would appreciate any comments to see if my changed sharpening technique did any good.

Louis, a huge improvement and a BIG step forward.:) If you can just do a bit more selective sharpening on the bears (nothing else) IMHO, I think you will be there. Well done.

Louis I like this one much more than the cropped version, better composition, agreed on a little more sharpening on the face still

    Big Difference Louis

For the selective sharpening just make a new layer .. command J ... sharpen the entire area then erase all but the face or area you want !! For most images you will only be sharpening the face area!!!

Loius, Ive enjoyed your bear series, and love the tender moment here. I agree the horizon needs CCW rotation.
