A male Lichtenstein's Sandgrouse near Negele, Ethiopia.
Light wasn't the best but I was lucky to get him against such an open BG.

Wow, nice looking bird this is! Great separation of subject/BG. Bird is a little tight in the frame, and the image could use some CCW rotaion.
Wow...an excellent photo of an excellent bird. Loved the low angle, details and pose. If the light was low, then you should pat yourself on the back for capturing this.
The lighting looks good to me, it has brought out the colours nicely. Nice sharp image. Like your repost better. Interesting bird havn't seen such a one before.

Hi Ignacio, This is one great looking bird. The head angle is good with good colors and details. I also prefer the repost. Nicely none!
EXCELLENT photo!! I've never seen before this bird. I like the colors and details. Congrat!
first time I've seen one - lovely capture. I'm also curious about Peter's question...
lovely bird and the low angle of the shot
Thanks Pete. Ethiopia is very safe to travel, as long as you have a good local agent/driver who knows his way around; pretty much like in the rest of Africa. Birds are surprisingly tame around certain areas and you can get really close to mammals found nowhere else (Geladas, Hamadryas baboons, Ethiopian wolves...) From what I've seen in your website, you'd love it. Congrats on your SA and Botswana images, btw.
Well I gotta tell ya this guy sure made me chuckle when I opened the shot. How incredable of a beautiful yet whimsical bird he is. Your so lucky to have gotten him there to shoot. And a nice shot you got of him too.
