I think this guy is in focus....Shot with a mono-pod.

I originally tried posting as a cropped PORTRAIT bit it wouldn't upload. So I guess we can only post LANDSCAPE???

Hi Vince - you should not have any trouble with a vertical image as long as it is 800 or 1024 pixels on the longest edge.
It is in focus - though can do with a little more sharpening.

Here is what I have done.
Selected the bird with quick selection tool
    Inverted the selection
Darkened the BG a little with the levels adjustment
Applied some guassian blur to the BG
Inverted the selection (Now the bird is selected)
    Sharpened a tad
    Deselected
added a tiny catchlight to the eye. (Educational resources forum has a tutorial)

Look any better to you.??? All done very quickly - YOU can do much better!!!

Hi, Vince, I sure like "Peachie!" Wish the light was on him instead of behind him, though, and that the bg were less bright and distracting. Lance's repost minimizes the bg well & helps the bird shine a little more. I do like the horizontal framing though. You got good details on the bird! Classic Moluccan cockatoo pose. :)

I am tyring to send it again in the portrait mode........I have my dimensions way below the 800x1024 and it says my dimensions are wrong. I actually used that photo today because it does have the BACK LIGHT I am entering it into a club contest and the requirement was that it had to be back lit.
Can't find the section on catch light......

Now it seemed to work......but I had to use your dimensions for it to work. No other combo seem to do it.

Well gonna call it a night...take care all.

    Hi Vince

I know it can be confusing but for verticals can only go to 800 max !!

Image is sharp and well exposed for the bird !! Got enough shutter speed and the camera was steady. btw don't worry about shooting wide open, will help out with the bg !!

    Hi Vince,
I like your repost, agree with Mr. Forns on using a wide aperature setting to throw the background out...looking forward to your next one...

Great re post Vince. Is this a tame bird that belongs to someone or a wild. This is a Mollucan cockatoo correct?
