    Default Oriental Lily (not theme)

Since I struggle so much with softer images, I thought I might push myself a bit to see if I can gain some improvement. I used an old Oriental Lily shot and applied Fractalious in varying degress until it felt right to me. At that point the stamen just looked a bit lost, so I used a layer mask to bring back a bit of the original detail. Open to all thoughts. As I said softness just doesn't seem to be my strong suit :( I really love seeing the other soft images in this forum though :)

Dave, I love it! The softness and pale colors are very pleasing to me. I like the frac. work and the masking you did. I might suggest to fade the small very faint halo around the stamens a bit using a lower opacity soft brush on the mask layer. I think softness is your strong suit!:)

Beautiful composition, Dave. Very nice colors and I too like the softness. My only suggestion would be to increase the brightness by a small bit. TFS.

Thanks Denise and Indranil, when I get some more free time I may play a bit with the halo. It'll be good practice. Thanks again for the comments.

I like the softness and comp in this one very much Dave. I just put it in NIK and used darken/ lighten center and did a border. Thought maybe it gave it a bit more depth.

Dave, I think it is very nice. I love the soft, pale colors. Jackie's repost adds just the right amount of light IMHO:)

Thanks Jackie and Cheryl. I do think the small boarder makes the image stand out on the screen a bit better. The re-post is way cool. :) Now if I can play with those halos a bit, I might be in business, once again thanks to friends here.
