    Default House Finch - My second post



    Thanks for looking and any helpful hints!

    This was a set-up on my deck. Taken about 3:00 p.m.
    Nikon D300
    300mm f/4, 1.4Nikon TC
    1/200 f/5.6
    ISO 800
    No flash
    Cropped, removed branch in lower left corner, and part of branch attached to upper right of branch.
    Meter mode - center weighted average

    I like the pose, the perch ,the feather detail and the exposure. I might tone down the bottom portion of the perch.

    As it was a set up, could you have come around to the right at all? You would have had more direct lighting on the bird. Good, crisp image and I love the BG

    I think Martin meant come around to the "left", as the shadow is on the bird's left side. Other than the light angle being JUST off, this is a great image. I like the "turned back" look:)

    Hi Martin,

    Unfortunately, I couldn't move much at all. I was in the house, with only one spot where I could get a good view. These darned birds always show up when the light is at the wrong angle, and are nowhere to be seen when the light is right. Ha ha.
